About me
I want to use this blog to report “from the front line” on my community work in South Belfast and to put across political views and observations based on issues I come across while doing so.
I have worked with community organisations and local businesses in South Belfast for 20 years, and have spent the past seven as Director of the Greater Village Regeneration Trust. This is a role which brings both challenges and rewards, and gives me the opportunity to make a real difference in one of the Northern Ireland’s most deprived areas.
At home I am mother of two young children, Thomas and Rebecca, both of whom are testing out the educational reforms which are (or are not) ongoing!
I will be blogging primarily on my community work, to try to give a sense of reality to debates about tackling poverty and improving education provision. Too often, there is a world of difference between the theory and the practice – this blog will be about the practice!
